Where to see SiteGround's nameservers

In Site Tools, go to Dashboard, then Site Information, then IP and Name Servers. In the Client Area they are under Websites, Website Settings, Server Details.

Check which nameservers a domain uses right now

Your account shows what you configured. The registry shows what the internet actually uses, and the two can differ while a change is in flight. To see the live answer, query the NS records:

dig NS example.com +short

Or run a free DNS scan, which reads the delegation and every record from each authoritative nameserver, and use the DNS propagation checker with the NS record type to watch a change reach resolvers worldwide.

How to change SiteGround nameservers

  1. 1

For a domain registered with SiteGround, go to Client Area, Services, Domains, Settings.

  2. 2

Open the Name Servers tab and click Manage.

Good to know

  • Private nameservers let you present SiteGround's nameservers under your own domain name.
  • Copy any custom DNS records to the new provider before switching away.

What breaks when nameservers change

Changing nameservers moves every DNS record for the domain to a new provider at once. The common failures:

  • Email stops arriving because the MX, SPF and DKIM records were not copied to the new provider.
  • The website or a subdomain goes dark because one A or CNAME record was missed.
  • The domain fails to resolve for validating resolvers because an old DNSSEC DS record no longer matches.
  • For a day or two, some resolvers still ask the old provider, so edits made there keep showing up for some users.

DNS Spy checks every record on every authoritative nameserver at least every ten minutes and alerts you the moment one changes or disappears, so a migration mistake shows up before your customers notice. See how DNS monitoring works.

Frequently Asked Questions

The SiteGround nameservers are ns1.siteground.net and ns2.siteground.net, at 75.2.77.104 and 99.83.229.113. Enter them at your registrar to host a domain's DNS with SiteGround. You can confirm them in Site Tools under Dashboard, Site Information, IP and Name Servers. Both are fixed, so every SiteGround customer uses the same pair.

Go to Client Area, Services, Domains, Settings, open the Name Servers tab and click Manage. Choose SiteGround, Private or Custom as the nameserver type, enter hostnames if you picked Custom, and press Confirm. Domains registered elsewhere are changed at that registrar.

Private nameservers are SiteGround's nameservers presented under your own domain, such as ns1.yourdomain.com, so clients see your brand instead of SiteGround's. They resolve the same way as ns1.siteground.net and ns2.siteground.net, and you select them as the Private option in the Name Servers settings.
